Ladoucer, Vipond to be inducted into Whitby Sports Hall of Fame

Former National Lacrosse League player Dan Ladouceur and lacrosse builder Luther Vipond (1914-1982) will be honoured in April into the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame.
Winning was never a problem for Ladouceur, another big lad who stood six-foot-six and spent his entire NLL career with the Toronto Rock. Signing with the Rock as free agent in 1999, he appeared in six championship games and won five of them, before retiring in 2008 as the NLL's career penalty minute leader.
Ladouceur is now a coach with the Whitby Warriors Jr. A team he once played for.
Ironically, it was with the Warriors where Ladouceur first met up with Hall of Fame coach Peter Vipond, who's father, Luther, will be inducted this year as well.
Vipond, a lifelong resident of Whitby, distinguished himself as a player, coach, manager, executive, sponsor, mentor and community builder over a span of five decades. The arena in Brooklin is named in his honour.
The 2011 Whitby Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at the Heydenshore Pavilion on Saturday, April 30. See whitbysportshalloffame.com for tickets and other information.
