For evidence that the game of lacrosse is enjoying a sudden increase in popularity, look no further than Six Nations.
This weekend, hundreds of players, old and young, converged on the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena for the two-day Native American Youth Lacrosse Summit -an all-encompassing lacrosse event that attracted players from across Canada.Astounded organizers found about three times the attendance they expected at the event and were thrilled when seven players came from Hawaii for the weekend and another busload travelled through a Wisconsin snowstorm to arrive.
"There were probably 400 people here yesterday," said Kevin Sandy, the director of operations for the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena. "It's a great feeling -totally amazing."
