Toronto Rock forward Garrett Billings was named the National Lacrosse League Player of the Month for February on Thursday.
Billings scored 13 goals and added 12 assists for 25 points in five February games for the Rock, averaging 5 points per game as the team went 4-1 through the month of February. He also picked up 22 loose balls during those games. In a 16-13 win at Philadelphia on February 26th, Billings tallied ten points with 2 goals and 8 assists, his highest single game output. Billings ranks in the league's top 10 in goals, assists, points, and power play goals. Toronto ends the month with a league-best record of 8-2.
Boston Blazers defenseman Kyle Rubisch was named February's Rookie of the Month. In three games played, the rookie defenseman collected 28 loose balls, created four forced turnovers and tallied two assists as the Blazers went 3-0 in the month of February.
Rubisch helped anchor a defense that allowed only 24 goals total over the three games. A 2010 first round draft selection out of Dowling College, Rubisch began his month by collecting 7 loose balls and forcing a turnover in a 9-7 Blazers victory over the first place Toronto Rock. He was honored for his play earlier in the month by being selected to the All Star Game in his first season in the NLL. The Blazers end February with a 6-3 record, the second best record in the league.
