It's a sad reality that some teams in many sports don't have the money to get themselves to a world championship when they've qualified.
Add Ireland's national indoor lacrosse team to that list.
Here's a post from Conor Walsh, a member of Ireland's national indoor lacrosse team.Hopefully if the word spreads, these guys will get a chance to compete in Prague.
_______
As you may know, I am playing lacrosse for Ireland in the World Cup which is coming up this May in Prague. The Ireland Lacrosse team is 100% player funded which makes representing Ireland, an expensive affair.
This year is no different. It will cost each athlete between €1600 – €1800 to represent their country in the 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Prague, Czech Republic held May 21st-28th.

Where does your Donation go?
All funds raised through the 2011 Irish National Indoor Lacrosse Team fundraising programme are used to offset the costs
of our athletes. Your money goes directly to pay for – facilities, accommodation while abroad, food while abroad, uniforms and equipment.
There are a number of different ways that you can help support me and the Irish National Indoor Lacrosse team. You can even help by simply passing this post along to your family and friends or your followers on Twitter, or by posting this to your Blog readers.
