Jimmy Leworthy is back with the Guelph Regals.
Leworthy, the Ontario junior B lacrosse teams defensive coach in 2009, will be back on the bench as the Regals head coach this season.
He replaces Kyle Arbuckle who is now a co-coach with the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks of the Ontario Lacrosse Associations Major Series.
Arbuckle was also the general manager of the Regals last year. Mark Schuetzkowski now holds that position.
Leworthy, 32, played two seasons with the Kodiaks, 2003 and 04, when they were in the Ontario senior B league. They won the Presidents Cup national championship in 2003. Leworthy totaled seven goals and 17 assists in 29 games with the Kodiaks.
He also played three years with the St. Catharines Athletics in the Ontario Major Series from 2000 to 02. Leworthy had a total of 25 goals and 14 assists in 58 games.
Leworthy and Arbuckle were teammates on both the Athletics and Kodiaks.
Leworthy had also been one of the leading scorers with the Milton Mavericks of the Ontario junior B league from 1996 to 99. He had 112 goals and 154 assists in 82 games with the Mavericks. That franchise has since moved to Mississauga.
After his playing days, Leworthy served as the defensive coach of the Windsor Fratmen from 2005 to 08.
Other members of the Regals coaching staff include offensive coach Adam Metcalf, defensive coach Matthew Cremasco and goalie coach Shane Kunderman.
The Regals will hold pre-season workouts Feb. 27 and March 6 at Kitcheners Queensmount arena.
