The Coquitlam Junior Adanacs, and head coach Curt Malawsky, are pleased to announce that Travis Gillespie has agreed to join the Junior A coaching staff for the up coming 2011 season. Travis will take on the reins of defensive coach for the Minto Cup champion Junior Adanacs. Travis brings to the club a tremendous amount of knowledge, skill and determination all attributes he demonstrated as a player.
His playing resume includes four seasons 1997-2000 Junior lacrosse for the Pt. Coquitlam Saints and the Orangeville Northmen 53 games and 82 pts during those years. He would go on to play in the WLA for the Coquitlam senior Adanacs adding 66 games and 85 points over five seasons including a Mann Cup Championship as a member of 2001 Champion Adanac team. He also played six seasons of professional lacrosse in the NLL playing for Washington, San Jose, Calgary, Arizona and Columbus putting in 54 games and 47 points to his lacrosse credentials.
Travis has also been successfully involved in coaching field lacrosse in New Westminster. He is currently the assistant coach for Team BC U16 field and assistant coach for the Dutch National team.
As a solid defensive player with 173 junior, senior and professional games to his credit Travis will be a huge addition to the coaching staff and to our defensive players. He is another piece added to our already successful coaching staff headed up by Curt Malawsky, and assistant coaches Ryan Williams and Al Gillespie.
