Canadian U19 National Women’s Lacrosse Team announced

Canada’s top Under‐19 players took to the floor this past Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre during halftime of the Toronto Rock/ Buffalo Bandits National Lacrosse League game.
This weekend marked the conclusion of the selection process for Canada’s 2011 National Team which began 18 months ago in Peterborough and Langley at the national identifcation camps. Over the last few months, in games played against OUA and NCAA schools in pre‐season along with a final Christmas training camp, squad players have left Team Canada coaches, led by Scott Teeter , with difficult decisions in naming their final 18.
Today, the Canadian Lacrosse Association is pleased to announce the final 18 member roster that will represent Canada at the 2011 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) U19 World Championship in Hannover, Germany this coming August 3‐13.
The team is comprised of players from Ontario, Alberta and BC, ranging in age from 15 to 19. Four players are currently in their freshman year playing at NCAA schools, with seven others committing for the 2011‐12.
Among the events planned for the lead‐up to the world event are participation in the US Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament, May 27 to 28 in Long Island, NY which will include a test match with Team USA; competition in tournaments in Syracuse and Baldwinsville in July; and a final game on July 30 in Oshawa against Team Canada Alumni with a send‐off event to celebrate players and staff.
The 2011 FIL U19 World Championship in Hannover, Germany will be the first U19 World Championship to be held in Europe. The last Championship was played at Trent University in Peterborough, ON in 2007, where Canada finished fourth. Canada won bronze in 2003 and 1999 and was 4th at the inaugural event in 1995.
