A great comeback for Carey

Dan Carey is back on a NLL floor.
The Peterborough native picked up an assist for the Colorado Mammoth in his first lacrosse game in almost 18 months Saturday.
The Mammoth, who got three goals and two assists from John Grant Jr., fell 10-8 to the Washington Stealth. Mike Grimes had an assist for Washington.
Carey missed the entire 2010 NLL season with head and neck injuries suffered in an August, 2009 playoff game for the Peterborough Lakers against the Six Nations Chiefs. Carey made a breakthrough with new treatment in the fall.
In naming Shawn Evans to Canada's indoor lacrosse roster last week, assistant coach Paul Day said the Peterborough native has embraced the role of feeder.
On Saturday, Evans showed just what Day meant with a goal and eight assists for a team-high nine points in the Rochester Knighthawks 11-6 win over the Philadelphia Wings.
Peterborough's Mike Hobbins had an assist in the Toronto Rock's 9-7 loss to the Boston Blazers.
On Friday, John Tavares had two goals and six assists to lead the Buffalo Bandits past the Minnesota Swarm 15-11. Mark Steenhuis had three goals and an assist. Chris White had two assists and Tracey Kelusky one. Swarm goalie Kevin Croswell picked up two assists in 35 minutes work. Mat Giles had a goal and assist.
